School of Law Doctoral Scholarships at NUI Galway in Ireland, 2017 is open for International Students . The scholarship allows PhD level program(s) in the field of Law taught at NUI Galway . The deadline of the scholarship is .

NUI Galway is currently accepting applications for four doctoral scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to undertake a full-time structured PhD programme at the School of Law.

The School of Law is committed to high-quality research and to enhancing its position as a centre of scholarship, nationally and internationally.

NUI Galway is the largest and oldest university in the West of Ireland and is ranked among the Top 2% of universities in the world and recognized as being one of the best universities for their international outlook.

All applicants, whose first language is not English, must present IELTS, TOEFL or Pearson PTE scores.

Degree Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing PhD programme at the School of Law.

Available Subject: Scholarships are awarded within the field of law.

Scholarship Benefits: Each Scholarship is worth €16,000 per year, (paid on a pro-rata basis depending on the start date of Scholarship), a proportion of which will be used to cover fees.

Eligibility:  The scholarships are aimed primarily at new PhD students and are intended to cover years one to four of the full-time Structured PhD programme inclusive. However, the scholarships are also open to applicants who are in the first year of their PhD. In this case, the scholarship will apply to the remainder of the full-time Structured PhD Programme. Students who have progressed to the second year of their PhD (or beyond) are not eligible to apply.

Nationality: Irish and international students can apply for these scholarships.

Entrance Requirement: To be eligible for admission to the PhD programme, a candidate must normally have obtained an LL.M or other Master’s degree to honours standard (or equivalent international qualification).  However, at a minimum, the candidate must have reached a high honours standard at the examination for the primary degree or presented such other evidence as will satisfy the Head of School and the College of his/her fitness.

English Language Requirement: All applicants, whose first language is not English, must present IELTS, TOEFL or Pearson PTE scores.

How to Apply: Students can make application through the online PAC system.Those interested in applying should submit the following:

  • A curriculum vitae with the names and contact details of two referees;

  • A personal statement (max 500 words), indicating why the applicant should be considered for the scholarship;

  • A statement of the proposed doctoral research(max 2,000 words), outlining:

  • The central research question;

  • The proposed methodology;

  • The intended contribution to existing scholarship;

  • A research plan encompassing intended time-frames for the different stages of the research;

  • A training and career development plan to support and build upon the research.
