SSHP Postgraduate Research Scholarships at Birkbeck University of London in UK 2014

The School of Social Sciences, History and Philosophy of Birkbeck University of London offers 14 fully funded postgraduate research scholarships in UK. Scholarships are provided in the fields of Applied Linguistics and Communication, History, Classics and Archaeology, Geography, Environment and Development Studies, Philosophy, Politics and Psychosocial Studies at Birkbeck University of London. UK/EU and International students can apply for these scholarships. The scholarship awards will include a fee waiver of up to the value of the full-time home/EU rate for MPhil/PhD degrees (currently £3,900), in addition to an annual stipend set at Research Council rates (currently £13, 726; pro rata in the case of a part-time award). The application deadline is 17^th February 2014.

Eligibility: This competition is primarily open to new Home/EU and International students who are applying for a full-time MPhil/PhD place in the departments – a subject-specific award in Sociology may also be made. Applications for part-time study will also be considered, at an appropriate pro rata rate and extended duration.
-The competition will be decided on the basis of academic merit. Scholarships will be awarded in Spring 2014, to be taken up in the 2014-15 academic year; they will be tenable for up to 3 years (subject to the holder making satisfactory performance, as assessed through the College’s regular structures for reviewing the performance of doctoral students).

Scholarship Description: The School of Social Sciences, History and Philosophy will award up to fourteen fully funded Postgraduate Research Scholarships in 2014. These scholarships include a number of Birkbeck ‘Anniversary Scholarships’, offered by the College to mark the 190^th anniversary of its foundation. This competition is primarily open to  Home/EU and International students who are applying for a full-time MPhil/PhD place in the departments listed below – a subject-specific award in Sociology may also be made. Applications for part-time study will also be considered, at an appropriate pro rata rate and extended duration.
