The Study in Bavaria Fully Funded Scholarships sponsored by the Free State of Bavaria offer an outstanding opportunity for graduates from Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe to pursue postgraduate studies, PhD degrees, or research stays in Germany. Administered by BAYHOST – the Bavarian Academic Center for Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, this prestigious program promotes academic cooperation, cultural exchange, and scientific collaboration between Bavaria and its partner countries.
Since 2005, BAYHOST has played a key role in connecting Bavarian universities with institutions across Europe, supporting mobility, joint research, and international networking. The one-year scholarship program, renewable for up to three years, allows talented students to benefit from Germany’s world-class education system while contributing to cross-border innovation.

Eligible Nationalities
Host Institutions:
State or state-funded universities and universities of applied sciences in Bavaria, Germany
Target Countries:
Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Ukraine, and other partner states of Bavaria.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold citizenship from an eligible Central, Eastern, or Southeastern European country
- Possess a strong academic record qualifying for admission to a Bavarian HEI
- Apply for a postgraduate program, PhD, or research stay in Bavaria
- Demonstrate clear academic goals and motivation
- Projects that strengthen cooperation between Bavaria and the home country are highly valued
- Previous links to German institutions or proposals fostering bilateral partnerships are considered an advantage.
