Scholarship Description:

The Professional Fellow Program (PFP) Spring 2024, hosted by USA Universities, invites applications from international professionals for its esteemed Fellowship in Leadership and Professional Studies. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by American Councils for International Education, PFP aims to foster mutual understanding and enhance leadership skills through a comprehensive exchange experience. Participants will engage in tailored fellowships spanning 5-6 weeks across various sectors in the United States, facilitating invaluable professional development and cross-cultural exchange. Eligible Nationalities:

Students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Serbia, Türkiye, or Ukraine can apply for this scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria:

The Professional Fellows Program seeks talented individuals from specific countries to participate in a unique exchange experience. Here's a breakdown of who can apply:

  • Citizenship and Residency: You must be a citizen and current resident of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Serbia, Türkiye, or Ukraine. Those residing outside these countries or in long-term programs abroad are ineligible. Special Note: Ukrainian citizens who left Ukraine after February 2022 can still apply, and Belarusian citizens who left Belarus after August 2020 are also welcome.

  • Leadership Potential: We're looking for emerging leaders who excel in government, civil society, or the private sector. Your expertise should align with the program theme your country participates in.

  • Professional Experience: You should be currently employed with a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience by the application deadline.

  • Thematic Alignment: Your background should be a good match for the program theme offered in your country:

    • Governance and Society (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Serbia, Türkiye, Ukraine)
    • Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Belarus)
  • Age Range: Be between 25 and 35 years old at the program's start. This includes those turning 25 on the first day or 36 during the Fellowship.

  • Cross-Cultural Skills: You should be self-motivated, forward-thinking, and open to diverse perspectives. The ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a multinational setting is crucial.

  • Project Vision: Identify a specific goal or project you'd like to implement upon returning to your workplace or community.

  • Language Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in both written and spoken English is required.

  • Leadership and Collaboration: A history of leadership and collaborative skills is highly valued.

The PFP application process is entirely online through the Application Information System (AIS) Forms portal. This user-friendly platform allows you to:

  • Complete and submit your application
  • Upload supporting documents directly
  • Request recommendations

The system provides clear instructions on navigating the application, saving your progress, and submitting it. Don't worry, you can take your time! You can save your work and return to the portal anytime before the deadline.

Program Options

The application will ask you to choose your preferred program cycle. The specific dates for each cycle will be clearly displayed.

Submitting Your Application

Once you've completed all sections, make sure to click the "Submit" button on the final page. Applications without a confirmed submission will not be reviewed. Please note: After submitting, you won't be able to make any changes. Upon successful submission, you'll receive a confirmation email. Remember, all applications must be received by the deadline.

This is due to potential time zone differences between Eurasia and the U.S. and the high volume of inquiries received closer to the deadline.

What You'll Need to Apply

To be considered for the program, you'll need to submit the following through the online application:

  • Eligibility Confirmation (requirements will be clearly outlined)
  • Education History (details of your educational background)
  • Comprehensive Work Experience (a complete overview of your professional experience)
  • English Resume/CV (your professional experience document in English)
  • Three Essay Responses (prompts will be provided within the application to address your motivations, community impact goals, and how you'll use the program to support a project back home)
  • Two Professional Recommendations (from individuals familiar with your work)
  • Signed Agreements (the Participant Terms and Conditions Agreement and the American Councils Privacy Policy Statement)
