The IsDB-TWAS Postdoctoral Fellowship is a program offered by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) for postdoctoral researchers from developing countries. The program provides funding for two years of research at a host institution in a developing country other than the fellow's home country. The goal of the program is to support the development of human capital and research capacity in science and technology in developing countries. Eligible fields of study include natural sciences, engineering, and technology. Applicants must have a PhD degree and be citizens of an IsDB member country.

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) is a multilateral development bank established in 1975 to foster economic development and social progress in its member countries, which are primarily located in the Islamic world. The bank provides financing for a wide range of projects in areas such as infrastructure, agriculture, health, education, and energy. It also supports capacity building, technical assistance, and research and development.

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) is an international organization based in Trieste, Italy, that was established in 1983 to promote scientific excellence and capacity building in the developing world. TWAS has over 1600 elected Fellows from more than 100 countries, and its mission is to advance science and engineering for sustainable prosperity in the developing world. TWAS works to achieve this goal by promoting research, providing training and support for scientists, and advocating for science-based policies.

The IsDB-TWAS Postdoctoral Fellowship is a collaboration between these two organizations that aims to support the development of human capital and research capacity in science and technology in developing countries. The program provides funding for two years of research at a host institution in a developing country other than the fellow's home country.

Scholarship Benefits:

The IsDB-TWAS Postdoctoral Fellowship can be very beneficial for international students from developing countries for several reasons:

Financial support: The program provides a generous monthly allowance to cover living expenses, research costs, and travel expenses. This can be especially beneficial for students from low-income countries who may otherwise struggle to afford to pursue postdoctoral research.

Research opportunities: The fellowship provides the opportunity to conduct research at a host institution in a developing country other than the fellow's home country. This can provide access to new research facilities, equipment, and expertise that may not be available in the fellow's home country.

Networking: The program provides opportunities for fellows to connect with other researchers from around the world, including other IsDB-TWAS fellows and researchers at the host institution. This can help to build a professional network that can be beneficial throughout the fellow's career.

Career Development: The program can help to develop the fellow's research skills and knowledge and increase the chances of gaining a permanent position in academic or research institutions.

International exposure: The program provides the opportunity to work and live in a new country, which can be a valuable experience in terms of personal and professional growth, as well as cultural exchange.
