UNESCO invites applications for the GEM Report Fellowship 2024, It is a fully funded opportunity for international post-doctoral researchers in the field of Education. Scholarship Benefits:

• Financial Support: A competitive stipend of up to US$19,500 will be provided to cover living expenses for the fellowship period (up to 11 months). Additionally, travel costs will be fully funded for a mandatory one-month stay in Paris.
• Mentorship Program: Fellows will be paired with a dedicated mentor from the GEM Report's experienced research team. This mentor will provide ongoing guidance and support, including 3-5 hours per week of in-person mentorship during the Paris residency and 2 hours per week virtually while the fellow is based in their home country.
• Workspace: During their stay in Paris, fellows will have access to a dedicated workspace with a desk and computer at the UNESCO Headquarters, allowing them to collaborate effectively with the GEM Report team.

Eligibility Criteria:

Languages:

• Applicants must be fluent in one of UNESCO's official languages (English or French) and demonstrate the ability to write high-quality research papers in English.

Background:

Research Proposal:

• The application should include a research proposal addressing a critical policy issue related to the upcoming GEM Report. This proposal should offer a fresh perspective on the topic.
• The proposal should situate the research within the ongoing discussions surrounding SDG 4 (the global education goal) and briefly explain how the research will contribute to the field of education and policymaking.

Relevance to GEM Report:

• A strong proposal will clearly explain how the research will benefit the GEM Report's work.
• It should define the specific policy areas of focus, outline the policy questions it aims to answer, and demonstrate how the research will promote access, equity, inclusion, and quality in education systems.
• You should explain why the resources and research areas (thematic or geographic) of the GEM Report are particularly well-suited to address your research questions.
• Additionally, highlight how the research connects to monitoring issues raised in past GEM reports or potential themes for future reports.

Data and Methodology:

• The proposal should detail the data you plan to use for your research project, including the key variables.
• Describe the methods and statistical procedures you will employ.

Resources:

• Include a realistic and achievable timeline for your research project.
• Explain the rationale for conducting part of the research in Paris, outlining the expected duration, benefits, and justification for this stay.

  • A one-page summary of your project, including:

Selection Process:
