Scholarship Description:

Grants will be granted seriously based on academic excellence. Scholarship awards are estimated at $5,000 - $10,000 for the first year of study which can be put towards convenience costs at a college Hall of Residence, or as a payment to contribute towards your first-year living expenses.

The Wellington Tangiwai Scholarship perceives Victoria University of Wellington's commitment to supporting areas of strength for school leavers to learn at the University and remembers them as New Zealand's researchers representing things to come. These grants will be proposed to the top school-leaver candidates signing up for any of the University's Bachelor's certificate programs.

The Wellington Tangiwai Scholarship – (School Leaver Scholarships for Excellence) is open at Victoria University of Wellington from 2022-2023. 

Wellington Tangiwai Scholarship – (School Leaver Scholarships for Excellence) 2022-23 at Victoria University of Wellington is now available for students if they are New Zealand Citizens, Permanent Residents, or International Student who has completed at least two full years (ie. their Year 12 and Year 13) at a New Zealand Secondary School at the time of application.

Wellington Tangiwai Scholarship – (School Leaver Scholarships for Excellence) in New Zealand 2023/24 is available to undertake Undergraduate level programs at Victoria University of Wellington.

Scholarships are valued at $5,000 - $10,000 for the first year of study which can be put towards accommodation costs at a university Hall of Residence, or as a stipend to contribute towards your first year living costs.

Eligible Nationalities:

All Nationalities

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be New Zealand Citizens, Permanent Residents or an International Student who has completed at least two full years (ie. their Year 12 and Year 13) at a New Zealand Secondary School at the time of application.
  • Applicants are expected to have their NCEA Level 2 Certificate endorsed with Excellence from Year 12 (or an equivalent level of achievement in an alternate qualification).
  • Applicants must be intending to enrol full-time in the year following application in their first Undergraduate Degree at Victoria University of Wellington.
  • Applicants must be in Year 13 or have completed Year 13 in the year prior and be taking a gap year to be eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Application Procedure:

Applications close on 1 September 2022.

A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received by 4.30 pm on the closing date in order for the application to be considered.
