The ARC Research Hub for Nanoscience Based Construction Materials Manufacturing (NANOCOMM) and Centre for Built Infrastructure Research (CBIR) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is offering up to 10 research scholarships for 2017 intake. These scholarships are available for pursuing PhD degree programme in the field of Science and Engineering.


The University of Technology Sydney is a public university in Sydney, Australia. The university was founded in its current form in 1988, although its origins trace back to the 1870s. It is part of the Australian Technology Network of universities.

Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Degree Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing PhD program.

Available Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the field of Engineering and Science.

Scholarship Benefits: Successful candidates will receive a scholarship valued at $25,849 per annum for three years to assist with general living costs. International students will be nominated for a UTS International Research Scholarship (IRS), which covers tuition fees for three years.  Tuition fees for domestic students are currently covered under the Research Training Scheme (RTS).

Eligibility: To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must have

  • Completed a relevant Bachelor degree in chemistry, materials science, geology, civil engineering or structural engineering with first class honours, or be regarded by the university as having an equivalent level of attainment or minimum 5 years’ relevant industry experience;

  • Familiarity with the value and use of a wide range of construction materials;

  • Relevant experience in analytical instrumentation, materials or structures testing or numerical modelling; and

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


Eligible Nationalities: Both UK and international students can apply for these scholarships.
