Description for DAAD Scholarship:

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research is pleased to announce its continued support for the exchange of academics and scientists between Germany and partner countries through the DAAD. This bilateral exchange program 2025/2026 aims to strengthen international relations and foster collaborative research endeavors. With funding from the Federal Ministry, this initiative enables university teachers and experienced academics to conduct research stays at state or state-recognized institutions in Germany. The program emphasizes equal exchanges in both directions, promoting mutual learning and collaboration. Through this partnership, we aim to advance knowledge sharing and academic cooperation on a global scale.

DAAD Scholarships Bilateral Exchange of Academics 2025/2026 in Germany is available to undertake Post Doctorate, Research level programs at Germany Universities.

Benefits for DAAD Scholarship:

Monthly Stipend:

  • Assistant teachers, assistant professors, and lecturers: €2,000 per month
  • Professors: €2,150 per month

Travel Costs:

  • Generally, the responsibility of the applicant's home country. Bilateral agreements might cover exceptions.

Additional Support for Disabilities:

  • DAAD offers subsidies for disability-related expenses not covered elsewhere. See their website given down below for details.

Health Insurance:

  • Mandatory in Germany. DAAD provides coverage if you lack existing insurance, deducting the cost from your stipend.

NOTE:

  • This programme funds exchanges between scientists and researchers from Germany and partner countries. In the implementation of the bilateral programme, care is taken to ensure equal exchanges in both directions.
  • Lecture tours or visits to congresses are not funded.

Eligibility Criteria for DAAD Scholarship:

  • The programme is aimed at university teachers and experienced academics and scientists. 
  • You should have a doctorate and you should be working at a university or research institute in your home country.

Selection Criteria:

The most important selection criteria are:

  • Your academic achievements and, if applicable, your publications, which must be documented in the curriculum vitae and a list of publications.
  • A convincing and well-planned research project.

1. Register and Apply Online:


  • Create an account in the DAAD portal.
  • Access the online application form within the portal.


2. Prepare Your Application Documents:

You'll need to upload the following in PDF format:

  • Completed online application form
  • Full CV (tabular format, max. 3 pages)
  • List of academic publications (max. 3 pages)
  • Detailed research project proposal (max. 10 pages) - Refer to the "Important information for scholarship applicants" section B, point 2 for additional guidance.
  • Research visit timeline, including host institutions and academic contacts.
  • Informal written confirmation from your host about academic collaboration, referencing your proposal and guaranteeing a workplace at the German institute.
  • For documents not originally in English or German, provide certified translations uploaded alongside the original document.

  • 3. Submission and Additional Information:


    • Once you've uploaded all required documents, submit your application electronically.
    • Non-EU applicants: Clearly specify the contents of your application package for customs (e.g., "Scholarship application documents - no commercial goods").
