Mozambican graduates and final-year university students now have an excellent opportunity to pursue fully funded graduate studies in the United States through the prestigious Fulbright Foreign Student Program. The program is launched by the U.S. Embassy in Mozambique and administered by the U.S. Department of State in collaboration with the Institute of International Education (IIE).
This globally recognized scholarship program supports talented Mozambican students who wish to pursue Master’s, PhD, or non-degree research programs at leading universities across the United States. The initiative aims to promote academic excellence, leadership development, and long-term cooperation between Mozambique and the United States.

Degree Level
The Fulbright scholarship supports several graduate study tracks:
Master’s Degree Programs
Students can pursue advanced graduate studies in their chosen academic field at universities in the United States.
PhD Programs
Doctoral candidates can undertake research-focused programs depending on university placement and field availability.
Non-Degree Research Programs
Researchers and academics may participate in short-term visiting research programs lasting up to 10 months.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Must be citizens or permanent residents of Mozambique with a valid passport.
Must hold the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree (minimum four years of university education).
Final-year students may apply but must submit final academic documents before program start.
Demonstrate strong English language proficiency suitable for graduate study.
Show leadership potential, motivation, and commitment to national development.
Agree to return to Mozambique after completing the program.
Must not have previously received a Fulbright Student or Humphrey grant.
Must not be current or recent employees of the U.S. Department of State.
Preference may be given to applicants with limited prior study experience in the United States.
Standardized Test Requirements
Testing is not required during the initial application stage. Only shortlisted candidates will be asked to take standardized tests.
Possible tests include:
TOEFL – for English language proficiency
GRE – required for most academic fields
GMAT – required for business-related programs
Testing fees for semi-finalists are covered by the scholarship program.
