Universität Hamburg Merit Scholarships 2026 support outstanding international students at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Staatsexamen degree levels across all subjects and disciplines. The program helps talented students concentrate on their studies without financial worries, while also rewarding academic excellence and achievement.

Degree Level

The Merit Scholarship Program 2026 is open to:

  • Bachelor’s degree students

  • Master’s degree students

  • Staatsexamen students (programs that conclude with a state examination)

Note: Doctoral candidates (PhD students) are not eligible to apply.

The scholarship is available for all academic subjects offered at Universität Hamburg, including but not limited to:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • Motivation Letter (official template)

  • Transcript of Records / STiNE performance account (Bachelor & Staatsexamen students)

  • Most recent degree certificate + transcript of records (Master’s students)

  • Two evaluations from Universität Hamburg professors/lecturers with doctoral degrees (official template)

  • Proof of academic awards, publications, or achievements (optional)

Additionally, students must present their residence permit (non-EU) or ID + registration certificate (EU) to the program coordinator via Zoom.

  • Subject-related achievements and academic awards
