Keele University Smart Minds Scholarship, UK 2016



Keele University is pleased to offer International Smart Minds Scholarship for intake of September 2016. International students are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme. The overarching aim of establishing the Keele University was to transform the public higher education to improve quality and efficiency of teaching and learning, creating a world-class higher learning institution. Keele will continue to be one of the UK’s leading campus-based University communities. Keele will provide a high quality educational experience for students shaped by outstanding research, contributing positively to social, environmental and economic agendas locally, nationally and internationally. In addition to academic qualifications, applicants may be required to produce evidence of their English language ability. This is because in order to benefit from their studies, they need to demonstrate that they have a good level of written and spoken English before taking up a place here.




  • Scholarship is available for pursuing taught postgraduate programme.

  • Scholarship will be awarded to learn any of the courses offered by the university.

  • This award is for international fee payers only and cannot be combined with any other University funded scholarship or bursary which is intended for international fee paying students. In cases where an applicant is eligible for more than one award, the highest value award will be applied.



Eligibility Criteria: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for scholarship:




  • Before applying for the scholarship, applicants must have already made an application for a taught Master’s degree at Keele University, to begin in September 2016.

  • Applicants need to be a national of and resident in one of the regions stated (with the exception of the UK International Award).

  • *The category ‘UK International’ applies to international fee paying students who are expecting to graduate from their undergraduate degree at a UK university (including Keele) in July 2016 and are looking to progress on to a Master’s degree at Keele University.

  • Any offer of scholarship will be conditional upon applicants meeting the academic and English language requirements for their chosen course as set out in the offer letter.

  • This award is for international fee payers only and cannot be combined with any other University funded scholarship or bursary which is intended for international fee paying students. In cases where an applicant is eligible for more than one award, the highest value award will be applied.



Eligible Nationalities: Applicants from East & South East Asia; South Asia; Africa; UK International are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.



Entrance Requirements:




  • Any academic and professional qualifications or industrial experience you may have are normally taken into account, and in some cases form an integral part of the entrance requirement.



English language Requirements:




  • In addition to academic qualifications, applicants may be required to produce evidence of their English language ability. This is because in order to benefit from their studies, they need to demonstrate that they have a good level of written and spoken English before taking up a place here. Any offer of scholarship will be conditional upon applicants meeting the academic and English language requirements for their chosen course as set out in the offer letter.



Documents Required: Submit an essay of no more than 250 words to international-at-keele.ac.uk telling us which Smart Mind has inspired applicants to pursue further studies in their subject area of choice. This could be their professor at university, a Nobel Prize winner, or another well-known figure in their area.
