• Tuition Fee Offset:

  Beneficiaries may receive support to cover their tuition fees, easing the financial burden associated with their chosen course of study.

• Living Allowance (Stipend):

  Scholarships may provide a stipend, offering financial assistance to cover essential living expenses during the academic pursuit.

• Top-Up Living Allowance:

  In addition to the base stipend, recipients may be eligible for an extra fund, further enhancing their financial support beyond the standard stipend.

• Fixed Sum or One-Off Payment:

  Some scholarships may include a fixed sum or a one-time payment, providing recipients with additional financial resources.

• Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and/or Visa Application Costs:

  International students may benefit from scholarships covering the costs associated with Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and/or visa applications.

Commencing January 1, 2024, there will be a noteworthy nine per cent increase in the standard stipend rate for graduate researchers at Macquarie University. The updated stipend rate will be set at $35,000 per annum for full-time recipients.

For those pursuing the Bachelor of Philosophy, the scholarship holds a substantial value of $5000 per session, disbursed as a lump sum. This financial support aims to alleviate the academic expenses associated with the Bachelor of Philosophy program.

Eligibility Criteria:

2. English Language Proficiency:

• Fulfillment of the university's English language requirements is essential. Effective from February 27, 2024, Macquarie University recognizes the Duolingo English Test (DET) with a minimum score of 95 for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English to ensure effective communication and academic success.

3. Research Alignment:

• The proposed research by the applicant should align with Macquarie University's research priorities and capabilities. A strong connection between the research topic and the university's strategic focus areas enhances the likelihood of a successful scholarship application.

4. International Students:

• The scholarships primarily target international students who are not citizens of Australia or New Zealand, nor Australian permanent residents. Eligible international candidates are encouraged to apply, recognizing the diverse and inclusive nature of the scholarship program.

For New Applicants:

1. Complete the Combined Course and Scholarship Application:

   • Utilize the Online Application System to submit a comprehensive combined course and scholarship application.

2. Submit Academic Referee Reports:

   • Arrange for two academic referee reports to be promptly submitted to the Graduate Research Academy.

3. Specify Scholarship Reference Number:

   • Clearly indicate the scholarship reference number under the scholarship details question during the application process.

For Already Enrolled Applicants (Commenced in Session 1, 2024) or those with a Valid Letter of Offer within the Last Six Months:

1. Download Scholarship Only Application Guidelines:

   • Access and download the guidelines outlining the process for submitting a Scholarship Only application.

2. Complete Online HDR Scholarship Only Application:

   • Submit the online Higher Degree Research (HDR) Scholarship Only application form along with the required supporting documents.

3. Provide Scholarship Reference Number:

   • Indicate the relevant scholarship reference number under the designated section in the application form.
