The Pittsburgh Foundation Claire B Morrison Fund Scholarship 2024

Scholarship Description:

The Claire B. Morrison Fund is inviting talented medical doctors embarking on their first-residency at general hospitals Alleghney County, PA, to apply for financial support. This award gives $5,000 to medical residents who are caring, selfless, and provide excellent care to patients. The money must be used to help others, like by giving medical care to people who don't have easy access to it or by going on medical mission trips. ​The ​​​Claire B. Morrison Fund was created to award needy and talented medical doctors (domestic/foreigner) serving their 1st year residency following graduation from medical school in a general hospital which has its principal location in Allegheny County, PA.

Eligibility Criteria:

Residency Experience:

• Applicants must be actively enrolled in a first-year residency program at UPMC or West Penn Allegheny Health System.

Medical Degree:

•  A Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or equivalent is required.

Academic Focus:

•  Applicants must be pursuing a residency program that focuses on a specific medical specialty.

Community Service Focus:

• The scholarship is intended to support individuals who plan to utilize the award for charitable purposes related to healthcare. This could include:

Improving healthcare access: 

• Providing medical services to underserved communities.

Global health initiatives: 

• Participating in medical service trips abroad.
