What you'll study

This program focuses on the practical and managerial aspects of delivering construction projects. Core topics typically include construction project management, contract administration and law, construction estimating and cost control, procurement and commercial management, risk and quality management, site and safety management, and sustainable construction practices. You will study both the technical processes of construction and the leadership, communication and commercial skills required to manage people, budgets and timelines.

Study is usually delivered through a combination of lectures, case studies, industry-based projects and workplace-relevant assessments. Some students may have opportunities to work on real project briefs, apply digital tools such as BIM workflows, and develop tender documentation and contract strategies within simulated environments.

Entry requirements

• A bachelor degree in a related discipline (for example construction management, civil engineering, architecture, building surveying or quantity surveying), OR substantial relevant industry experience and prior learning that demonstrates capacity to undertake postgraduate study.
• Evidence of professional experience in the construction or built environment sector may be considered for applicants without a directly related undergraduate degree.
• Applicants must meet Central Queensland University’s English language requirements; overseas applicants typically provide recognised English test results or approved equivalents.
• Admission may be subject to interview or submission of a portfolio/CV for applicants claiming admission on the basis of work experience and prior learning.
