What you'll study

This graduate diploma builds core capabilities in financial and management accounting, taxation, auditing and accounting information systems. Typical subjects cover areas such as financial reporting and analysis, management accounting and budgeting, taxation law and practice, auditing principles, corporate and commercial law for accountants, accounting information systems and professional ethics. The program emphasises applied skills — interpreting financial statements, preparing management reports, tax compliance, and using accounting software — through case studies, practical assessment tasks and workplace-relevant projects.

Students who do not have an undergraduate accounting background are usually given a program of study that brings them up to the required technical level, often including foundational units in accounting and economics. The course is delivered with flexible study options, including on-campus and online modes, enabling full‑time and part‑time study patterns.

Entry requirements

• A recognised bachelor's degree (in any discipline) or equivalent professional qualifications. Applicants with significant relevant work experience may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
• Applicants without prior accounting coursework may be required to complete bridging or foundational units to achieve the necessary technical competency before or during the program.
• Domestic and international applicants must meet Central Queensland University's standard postgraduate admission procedures. International applicants must satisfy the university's English language proficiency requirements or provide an accepted English language test result or qualification.
• Specific credit transfer, advanced standing or recognition of prior learning may be available for applicants who hold prior accounting study or professional accounting qualifications.
