What you'll study

The programme covers core foundations of computing together with applied information technology topics. Early years emphasise mathematics for computing, discrete structures, introductory programming and computer systems. Core modules typically include data structures and algorithms, database systems, operating systems, computer networks, software engineering principles, web and mobile application development, and information security.

Practical laboratory work is integrated throughout the curriculum: programming labs, networking labs, database projects and systems administration exercises. Students also study professional topics such as IT project management, ethics and legal aspects of computing, and human–computer interaction. Electives commonly allow specialisation in areas such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics, artificial intelligence and enterprise systems.

The programme normally culminates in a capstone project or senior design project that demonstrates the ability to plan, implement and present a substantial IT solution, and students are often required or encouraged to complete industry internships or training placements as part of their degree.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally required to hold a secondary school certificate (or equivalent) with strong performance in mathematics and science subjects. For local applicants this typically means the Saudi high school certificate (Tahseel/Tawjihi) with the relevant scientific track; international applicants should hold an equivalent recognised high school diploma.

Because much of the instruction and technical material involves English terminology, applicants may be expected to demonstrate sufficient English-language ability. Where necessary, students can enter through the university’s preparatory or foundation programmes to build language and study skills before joining the degree stream.

Admission may also consider broader criteria such as entrance exam results, interview performance or any selection procedures used by the university’s College of Computer and Information Sciences. Specific GPA thresholds and quotas are set by the university and can vary by intake.
