Programme overview

Hiram College’s blended Master of Arts in Sport Management is an interdisciplinary, practice-oriented program designed to develop leadership and management skills for the sports industry. The program includes coursework and applied projects, multiple yearly start dates (fall, spring, summer), and a pathway that allows students enrolled year‑round to complete the degree within two years. An accelerated 4+1 option is available for qualifying Hiram undergraduates to finish the master’s one year after their bachelor’s.

What you'll study

The degree requires 36 graduate credit hours, including core coursework, at least 12 credits of graduate electives, and a capstone project. Listed course topics and required courses include:

• Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging in Sport
• Fitness and Health Promotion/Management

Electives may be chosen from three areas: Sport Administration, Sport Media, and Human Resource Management.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution and normally have a 3.0 GPA. A personal statement describing personal and professional goals and fit with the program is required. Admissions uses holistic review and will consider applicants with other strengths; however, applicants must meet a minimum GPA of 2.75.

The curriculum emphasizes facility management, human resources, sport analytics, sport law, sport marketing, and diversity and inclusion to prepare students for management and executive roles across the athletic landscape. Practical community partnerships with nonprofit sport organizations in the Cleveland area provide opportunities to apply skills to real projects and build professional networks.
