What you'll study

The program offers specialty pathways and coursework that combine clinical training with systems-level thinking. Core emphases and topics explicitly described include:

• Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP): advanced practice and clinical decision-making to provide holistic, family-centered primary care across the lifespan in ambulatory settings.
• Leadership: executive-level knowledge for nurses working in healthcare systems, administration and education with a focus on researching and applying new insights to improve health outcomes.
• Psychiatric Mental Health (PMH): assessment and treatment of mental health conditions across the lifespan, including hands-on clinical training and advanced psychopharmacology.
• Supporting domains: informatics, economics, education and health policy integrated with nursing practice and research.
• Experiential learning: immersive activities using virtual reality labs, telepresence robots, simulation scenarios and research to build practical competence in patient care and systems-level practice.

Entry requirements

Admissions requires a completed JU application; transcripts from all colleges/universities attended (international transcripts require a NACES course-by-course evaluation with GPA); graduation from a regionally accredited BSN program (CCNE, NLN or ACEN accredited); a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale; an active U.S. nursing license (out-of-state applicants must be eligible for Florida endorsement; international applicants must hold a current U.S. state license and be eligible for Florida endorsement). Applicants must also submit a resume/CV and a statement of intent. Applicants with a GPA of 3.0 or below may be asked for GRE/GMAT scores or letters of recommendation. International applicants whose first language is not English must provide TOEFL or IELTS scores sent directly from the testing agency.

Graduates are prepared for advanced practice and leadership positions: roles as family nurse practitioners providing primary care, leadership posts within healthcare systems (administration, education), and psychiatric mental health practice.
