A practice-focused doctorate for baccalaureate-prepared nurses aiming for advanced clinical, leadership, education or policy roles. Suited to BSN holders who hold an active U.S. nursing license and want to apply research to clinical practice across individuals, populations and systems.
The program offers specialty pathways and coursework that combine clinical training with systems-level thinking. Core emphases and topics explicitly described include:
Admissions requires a completed JU application; transcripts from all colleges/universities attended (international transcripts require a NACES course-by-course evaluation with GPA); graduation from a regionally accredited BSN program (CCNE, NLN or ACEN accredited); a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale; an active U.S. nursing license (out-of-state applicants must be eligible for Florida endorsement; international applicants must hold a current U.S. state license and be eligible for Florida endorsement). Applicants must also submit a resume/CV and a statement of intent. Applicants with a GPA of 3.0 or below may be asked for GRE/GMAT scores or letters of recommendation. International applicants whose first language is not English must provide TOEFL or IELTS scores sent directly from the testing agency.
Graduates are prepared for advanced practice and leadership positions: roles as family nurse practitioners providing primary care, leadership posts within healthcare systems (administration, education), and psychiatric mental health practice. The degree readies nurses to influence care delivery, health outcomes and policy, and to apply research at individual, population and systems levels.
