The EMNA Field Project serves as the program capstone: students design and implement a collaborative project that responds to a real business need within their employing nonprofit, emphasizing applied leadership, research, and self-directed learning.

Entry requirements

The EMNA is structured for working professionals with at least two years of work experience; the program is intended for those currently employed in or transitioning to the nonprofit sector. Applicants typically join as part of a cohort and begin with a summer on-campus component.

Scholarships & funding angle (general)

The program offers Notre Dame–sponsored scholarships and has partnerships with nonprofit employers to improve affordability. Published tuition for the 2026–2027 year is $3,900 per 3-credit course (or $1,300 per credit hour). Students commonly fund study through a mix of program fellowships, external scholarships, personal income or savings, employer support (not required), and federal or private graduate loans.
