Graduates gain eligibility for teaching and research roles beyond the B.Ed. level: positions in B.Ed. colleges, university research wings, project assistant roles at state and national institutes, and preference for secondary and higher-secondary teaching posts (including plus-two). The degree is also intended to prepare students to undertake independent research projects and to register for M.Phil. or Ph.D. programmes.
