Admission requires a master’s degree with at least 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent UGC 7-point scale grade 'B'; a 5% relaxation (to 50%) may apply to certain reserved categories as per the Commission's decisions. Candidates who have completed M.Phil. coursework with 55% (or equivalent) and the M.Phil. degree may proceed into an integrated Ph.D. programme. Admission is through the All India Combined Entrance Test followed by an interview. Supervisor allocation and student load follow UGC 2016 limits for guiding scholars.

Career prospects

Completing the Vidyavaridhi prepares graduates for careers in academic research and university teaching, specialist roles in archives and manuscript studies, scholarly publication, and positions requiring deep expertise in Sanskrit literature, ritual, law and classical philosophy. The degree is the standard qualification for long-term research and higher education roles within related disciplines.

Scholarships & funding angle

The source page lists programme fees but does not specify scholarships. Prospective students should enquire about university, governmental or external research fellowships and grants that typically support Ph.D. candidates; departmental assistantships or fee concessions may be governed by university and UGC rules.
