Additional exam qualifications required by stream: Engineering and Architecture applicants should be GATE-qualified; Science applicants should have NET/GATE; Humanities & Social Sciences applicants should have NET; Management applicants should have NET or GATE.
• For Part Time category: a bachelor’s and master’s in the relevant area with minimum 60% marks (or CGPA 6.5) is required; the specified exam qualifications are not listed for this category.
• Reserved-category relaxation: SC/ST/PwD applicants receive a 5% marks relaxation (0.5 in CGPA). Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS and 5% overall PwD quotas follow prevailing Government of India norms.
• Internal faculty norms: internal candidates undergo the same selection process as external applicants, complete the required coursework (at reduced per‑semester credit load), receive no relaxation of duties, and the institute bears no financial liability for their PhD.
