Doctoral training centres on acquiring the skills and techniques needed for research and developing an original thesis. The UOC offers nine specific online doctoral programmes including Bioinformatics (interuniversity); Business Administration and Management (interuniversity); Education and ICT (E‑learning); Health and Psychology; Humanities and Communication; Information and Knowledge Society; Law, Politics and Economics; Network and Information Technologies (interuniversity); Society, Technology and Culture; and Tourism (interuniversity).

Programmes provide research lines with thesis proposals put forward by teaching and research staff; students can contact responsible researchers to discuss proposals. The School offers additional short courses in research, entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer intended to help researchers raise their profiles and advance their careers.
