What you'll study

The curriculum allows students to follow one of two focal paths: a pure-mathematics route oriented toward fundamental mathematical research, or an applied-mathematics route intended to prepare students for applied research and collaboration with engineers, physicists, biologists, economists and other disciplines. Students may also include up to 22.5 ECTS taken from other UPC master's programmes in mathematics, statistics or other engineering and applied-science master's to build an interdisciplinary syllabus. The programme combines coursework (45 ECTS) with an independent master's thesis (15 ECTS).

Career prospects

The two orientations target different outcomes: the pure-mathematics track prepares students for research roles and further doctoral studies in fundamental mathematics; the applied-mathematics track prepares graduates to work in interdisciplinary teams and applied research areas alongside engineers, scientists and economists. The degree is an official qualification registered with the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
