What you’ll study

Students engage in asynchronous coursework that covers designing and evaluating classroom activities, managing the instructional environment, implementing and adapting effective strategies, assessing materials for diverse learners, monitoring instructional progress, communicating with stakeholders, and upholding ethical standards. Six weeks of in‑person clinical experience are required for those who already hold a teaching credential.

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (any discipline), maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, submit official transcripts, a current resume, a 500‑750 word personal statement, and a letter of recommendation from a professional or academic source.

Career prospects

Graduates are qualified to teach secondary school students in Pennsylvania and, after obtaining state certification, can pursue teaching roles in other states. The Master of Science credential also positions students for doctoral studies in education.
