What you'll study

Entry requirements

Successful applicants normally hold a recognised bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution; candidates with a first degree in law (LLB or equivalent) or a related discipline are competitive but applicants from other academic backgrounds with relevant research experience are also considered. Typical application materials include academic transcripts, a statement of purpose that outlines research interests and professional goals, two or three letters of recommendation (academic and/or professional), a current CV or résumé, and samples of academic or professional writing.

Columbia requires evidence of English proficiency for applicants whose first language is not English; scores from accepted English tests or other documentation of proficiency should be supplied as part of the application. The programme does not normally require the LSAT or GRE, but applicants should check the specific requirements for their application cycle.
