What you'll study

The Management and Operations concentration is delivered through the BYU Marriott School of Business curriculum and blends core business fundamentals with specialised study in operations, process analysis, project management and organisational behaviour. You will complete core business courses in accounting, finance, marketing, statistics and economics, then move into concentration-specific coursework focused on managing operations across service and manufacturing contexts.

• Core business courses: financial and managerial accounting, corporate finance, marketing fundamentals, business statistics, micro- and macroeconomics, business law and information systems.
• Management and operations courses: operations management, supply chain and logistics, service operations, production planning, quality management, project management and process improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma principles.
• Complementary subjects: organisational behaviour, leadership, human resource management, business analytics and decision models to support data-driven operational decisions.
• Capstone and experiential learning: integrative capstone projects, case competitions, internships, and opportunities to work with industry partners or research faculty on real-world operations challenges.

Students are encouraged to take elective modules in data analytics, entrepreneurship, information technology and international business to broaden their practical toolkit. Emphasis is placed on ethical decision-making, sustainable operations and operational strategy in a global environment.

Entry requirements

Admission to BYU is competitive. Prospective students typically present a strong high school academic record with coursework in mathematics (including algebra and pre-calculus), English, and social sciences. Successful applicants generally demonstrate quantitative readiness and a history of academic achievement.
