What you'll study

The programme combines core courses in American government, comparative politics, international relations and political theory with training in research methods, statistics and public policy analysis. Typical modules include introductory American politics, constitutional law and civil liberties, political behaviour and campaigns, public administration, comparative political systems, global politics, and quantitative methods for social science.

Students build skills in critical reading, argumentation, policy evaluation and empirical research. Learning experiences include classroom seminars, research projects, writing-intensive assignments and opportunities for internships with local, state or regional public agencies. Many students complete a capstone project or senior seminar that integrates substantive knowledge with original research or applied policy work.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a secondary school qualification equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma. Typical expectations include a solid academic record with strengths in humanities and social sciences and competency in written English. Applicants who completed college-level coursework at other institutions may apply as transfer students; transfer credit is assessed on submission of official transcripts.

International applicants must present an approved secondary credential and demonstrate English language proficiency through recognised testing or institutional pathways. Mature applicants and those with non-traditional backgrounds are welcome; academic advising helps determine appropriate placement and course planning.
