What you'll study

The programme blends a liberal-arts curriculum with a structured accounting major. In the first two years you build quantitative and communication skills through required courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics, business statistics, financial accounting and managerial accounting, alongside general education in writing, humanities and the social sciences.

• Core accounting courses: Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting I & II, Cost Accounting.
• Advanced and specialised courses: Auditing, Federal Taxation, Accounting Information Systems, Advanced Financial Reporting, and topics in ethics and corporate governance.
• Complementary business studies: Business Law, Corporate Finance, Financial Statement Analysis, and electives in data analytics and information technology for accounting.
• Capstone and experiential learning: Upper-level capstone or practicum projects, case studies, usage of accounting software and spreadsheets, and opportunities for internships with local firms or organisations.

Students may also take elective modules to tailor the degree toward forensic accounting, non-profit accounting, or managerial decision-making, and are encouraged to participate in internships, research with faculty, and study-abroad options to broaden practical and global perspectives.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to hold a recognised secondary school completion certificate or equivalent. Successful applicants typically demonstrate strength in mathematics and quantitative subjects, together with solid written communication skills.

• Submission of official secondary school transcripts and any available college-level records.
• A personal statement outlining academic interests and career goals in accounting or business.
• Applicants for whom English is not a first language should provide evidence of English proficiency through recognised tests or equivalent qualifications accepted by the college.
• Transfer applicants should provide college transcripts and may receive credit for prior relevant coursework; placement in some upper-level accounting courses may depend on prerequisite completion.

Career prospects

Graduates enter a range of roles across public accounting firms, corporate finance departments, government agencies and non-profit organisations. Typical entry-level positions include staff accountant, tax associate, audit associate, financial analyst and accounts payable/receivable roles.

With experience and further study or professional certification (for example the CPA or other country-specific accounting qualifications), alumni progress to senior accountant, audit manager, tax manager, controller, internal auditor, and financial management positions. The programme’s emphasis on accounting systems, data analysis and ethics also provides a foundation for careers in forensic accounting, consulting and financial compliance.
