What you'll study

This modular Bachelor's programme typically runs over six semesters and balances language practice with literary, linguistic and cultural analysis. Core topics include English grammar and phonetics, composition and rhetoric, historical linguistics, sociolinguistics, and translation studies. Literary modules cover periods and genres such as medieval and early modern literature, 19th- and 20th-century British and American literature, postcolonial and global Anglophone literatures, and contemporary drama and film studies.

• Linguistics: introduction to theoretical linguistics, discourse analysis, pragmatics and corpus methods.

Entry requirements

Applicants normally need a recognised secondary school leaving certificate equivalent to the German Abitur or an appropriate international qualification.
