What you'll study

This programme combines core education theory with comparative and international perspectives. You will study the historical development of education systems, global and regional education policy, and the social and economic forces that shape access, quality and equity in schooling.

• Curriculum and Assessment in Comparative Perspective — comparative approaches to curriculum design, standards and assessment practices.
• Sociology and Economics of Education — the relationship between education, social stratification and economic development.
• Research Methods for Comparative Education — qualitative and quantitative methods, programme evaluation and cross-national data sources.
• Language Policy and Multilingual Education — policy approaches to language in schooling, bilingualism and minority language education.
• Regional Studies and Thematic Electives — region-focused modules (for example Latin America, Caribbean or global south studies) and topic-specific courses (gender and education, refugee education, ICT in education).
• Capstone Project or Internship — a supervised research project or professional placement with a school, NGO, policy body or international organisation to apply comparative perspectives in real contexts.

Entry requirements

Admission to the bachelor programme normally requires a completed secondary school qualification that is recognised by the university, equivalent to a US high school diploma. Typical applicants will also present a record of relevant coursework and extracurricular experience demonstrating interest in education, social sciences or international affairs.
