What you'll study

This undergraduate programme combines subject-specific pedagogy with courses in child and adolescent development, assessment, classroom management and inclusive practice. • Assessment and Differentiation: formative and summative assessment, data-informed instruction, differentiated instruction and supports for diverse learners.
• Inclusive Practice and Special Education Foundations: strategies for working with students with disabilities, English-language learners and culturally and linguistically diverse classrooms.
• Professional Development and Leadership: adult learning theory, coaching, mentoring, building professional learning communities and continuing professional growth.
• Field Experiences and Student Teaching: progressive school placements beginning with observational and assisted practice and culminating in a full-time supervised student teaching placement. Reflective seminars and mentor feedback are integrated throughout.
• Capstone or Portfolio: a culminating project or professional portfolio demonstrating instructional competence, lesson design, assessment artefacts and reflections on professional growth.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have completed secondary education with a transcript demonstrating readiness for undergraduate study. Typical requirements include an official high school transcript, a personal statement or statement of purpose explaining interest in teaching, and one or more letters of recommendation. Some applicants may be invited to an interview or an information session.

Because this is a professional programme that leads towards licensure pathways, admitted students must be prepared to meet state requirements for background checks and immunisations before participating in school placements. Candidates with non-traditional backgrounds or transfer credits are considered on an individual basis; relevant prior college coursework or experience working with children can strengthen an application.
