What you'll study

The Master of Science in Nursing programme provides a combination of advanced core nursing science and pathway-specific coursework. Students choose a focus in Nursing Administration, Nursing Research, or Clinical Nursing and complete a mix of theory, practicum and a culminating scholarly project or thesis.

• Core topics: advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology, health assessment, evidence-based practice, leadership and health systems, nursing ethics and policy.
• Nursing Administration: courses typically cover healthcare finance and budgeting, human resource management for clinical teams, organisational behaviour, quality improvement, strategic planning and regulatory compliance. Practica emphasise administration in hospitals, clinics or community agencies.
• Nursing Research: methods and design (quantitative and qualitative), biostatistics, grant writing, implementation science and translating research into practice. Students complete a research project or thesis under faculty supervision.
• Clinical Nursing: advanced assessment and diagnostic reasoning, specialty-focused practicum, care coordination, population health and interprofessional collaboration. Clinical hours are completed in partnership with local health providers and vary by specialism.
• Capstone options: scholarly project, practicum portfolio or thesis depending on pathway and career aims. The programme emphasises application of evidence to improve patient outcomes and service delivery.

Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to be registered nurses with a completed Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a related baccalaureate degree plus a current, unrestricted RN licence. Typical entry materials include:

• Official transcripts from all postsecondary institutions.
• Current RN licence or proof of eligibility for licensure.
• Professional résumé or curriculum vitae documenting clinical experience.
• Personal statement outlining professional goals and preferred pathway (Administration, Research or Clinical Nursing).
