What you'll study

This programme builds a solid foundation in microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics, then applies those tools to environmental and natural‑resource topics. You will study how markets and policies affect environmental outcomes, how to value ecosystem services, and how to design cost‑effective regulation.

• Core economics: principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics, intermediate micro and macro, statistics for economists, introductory and advanced econometrics.
• Environmental and resource topics: environmental economics, natural resource economics, climate economics, ecological economics, environmental valuation and cost‑benefit analysis.
• Policy and law: environmental policy and regulation, public economics, land‑use and urban policy, comparative environmental policy.
• Quantitative and practical skills: applied data analysis, geographic information systems (GIS) or spatial analysis electives, modelling, and programme/policy evaluation methods.
• Capstone and experiential learning: senior seminar or thesis in economics, practicum or internship with local government, NGOs or private sector partners, and opportunities for undergraduate research with faculty.

Entry requirements

Admissions expect completion of secondary education appropriate to your country with a record demonstrating academic readiness. Successful applicants typically have strong preparation in mathematics (algebra and preferably calculus) and quantitative reasoning. Background coursework in economics or social sciences is helpful but not mandatory.

• Quantitative preparation: coursework in mathematics (algebra, pre‑calculus, calculus where available) and exposure to statistics is recommended.
