What you'll study

The BSN curriculum combines a liberal-arts foundation with progressive nursing theory, skills development and supervised clinical practice. Early coursework builds core sciences and health foundations such as human anatomy and physiology, microbiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology, together with health assessment and fundamentals of nursing practice. Subsequent semesters focus on adult health, maternal-child nursing, paediatrics, mental health/psychiatric nursing, community and public health nursing, and complex care across the lifespan.

Students complete progressive clinical practicum experiences in a range of settings, supported by simulation laboratory work and interprofessional learning. Dedicated coursework or elective pathways allow concentration on nursing administration (leadership, healthcare management, quality and safety), nursing research and evidence-based practice (research methods, statistics, informatics), and advanced clinical nursing topics (critical care, advanced assessment, care coordination). Entry requirements

Applicants are expected to hold a high school diploma or recognised equivalent. Typical prerequisites include college-preparatory biology and chemistry, and mathematics competency. Admissions decisions consider academic record (high school GPA or college transfer GPA), completion of required prerequisite courses, a personal statement, and letters of recommendation where requested.

Successful candidates must meet professional clearance requirements prior to clinical placements, which commonly include immunisation records, current CPR certification, a criminal background check and drug screening. Transfer applicants are assessed on prior college coursework and GPA, and may receive credit for equivalent general education or science courses. Standardised test scores may be considered according to the university's admissions policy.

Graduates are prepared to sit for the NCLEX-RN and work as registered nurses in acute care hospitals, outpatient clinics, community and public health agencies, long-term care and home health.
