What you'll study

The MEng Engineering programme begins with a broad foundation in core engineering principles — mathematics, mechanics, materials, electronics and programming — and rapidly introduces practical design and laboratory work. Early years emphasise applied mathematics, computational methods, systems thinking and laboratory skills alongside group design projects to develop teamwork and communication.

In the middle years you choose modules that allow you to build strengths in domains such as structural and civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electronic and control systems, energy and environmental engineering, and software for engineers. Typical topics include solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, materials and manufacturing, circuit design and embedded systems, control theory, and engineering design methodology.

The integrated master’s year focuses on advanced technical topics, specialist elective modules and an extended individual research or design project supervised by academic staff. Assessment methods include written examinations, coursework, laboratory reports, design portfolios and project presentations. Entry requirements

Applicants should have strong prior attainment in mathematics and at least one relevant science subject, typically physics, at A-level (or equivalent).
