What you'll study

This programme combines advanced clinical coursework, applied research and supervised clinical practice. Core study areas typically include advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning, pharmacology and therapeutics for advanced practice, health assessment skills, clinical decision‑making and complex care management. Students also study research methods and evidence‑based practice to support quality improvement, and undertake a substantial applied project or thesis that addresses a clinical problem in practice.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a recognised bachelor degree in nursing and current registration as a registered nurse with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (or equivalent). Relevant postgraduate study or demonstrated advanced clinical experience strengthens an application. Applicants usually need to show evidence of recent clinical practice and employer support for clinical placements where required. International applicants must meet Massey University’s English language requirements. Some applicants may be required to submit a portfolio, curriculum vitae and references as part of the selection process.
