What you'll study

The BA Geography programme covers core themes across human and physical geography while developing applied skills in spatial analysis, geographic information systems (GIS), field methods and data interpretation. In first year you study introductory modules that typically include physical environments, human geography, research methods and basic GIS, providing a foundation for later specialisms.

In the second and final years you choose optional modules to tailor your degree. Common topics include climate change and adaptation, coastal processes and management, urban and regional development, environmental policy, cultural and political geography, sustainable development, and advanced GIS and remote sensing. Fieldwork is integral across the programme, with local and multi-day residential trips to support practical training in mapping, survey techniques and environmental monitoring.
