What you'll study

The programme builds on core MBA themes — leadership, strategy, operations and marketing — and integrates them with advanced finance content to develop strategic financial decision-making and applied analytical skills. Typical core modules include strategic management, leadership and change, operations and project management, research methods and a major applied project (consultancy project or dissertation).

Finance-specific modules commonly cover corporate finance and financial strategy, investment analysis and portfolio management, risk management and derivatives, financial markets and institutions, and contemporary topics such as financial modelling, treasury management and the impact of fintech on financial services. Teaching mixes seminars, case studies, group work, live briefs with industry partners and quantitative workshops. The final stage is an applied business research project or consultancy that allows you to solve a real organisational problem using the knowledge and tools gained on the course.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a good honours degree (or an equivalent professional qualification) in any discipline. Candidates with substantial relevant managerial or professional experience but without a traditional undergraduate degree are considered on an individual basis. Employersponsored applicants are welcome.

International applicants must demonstrate equivalent academic achievement and English language ability. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to an interview or an admissions assessment to discuss their experience and suitability for senior management study.

Career prospects

Graduates of the MBA Finance typically progress into senior finance and management roles. Common career destinations include corporate finance, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), treasury and cash management, investment and portfolio analysis, risk management, and senior commercial management roles. The degree also prepares graduates for careers in consulting, banking, private equity and for entrepreneurial ventures where high-level financial strategy is required.
