Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a good undergraduate degree (typically a UK second class honours, upper division (2:1), or an equivalent international qualification) in a relevant discipline such as politics, international relations, criminology, law, sociology, or a STEM subject with a security focus. Applicants with a lower-class degree but significant relevant professional experience in policing, military, intelligence, emergency management, private security or related fields are considered on their merits.

International applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in English to the level specified by the university (such as IELTS or equivalent). Shortlisted candidates may be interviewed; additional requirements may apply for certain roles or where placement activity is involved.
