See the degree grade →A practice-focused MBA specialization that combines health care management theory with applied leadership tools and current-events discussion. Best suited to clinicians or other healthcare professionals aiming for management roles, as well as career-changers seeking entry into healthcare administration.
The specialization is structured as three complementary courses that build on one another: an introductory course on understanding health care organizations; a course addressing management of those organizations, with emphasis on financial aspects; and a course devoted to improving health care organizations. Content delivery and course materials are provided through the Blackboard Learning Management System, which hosts videos, syllabi, assignments and communication tools.
Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree. Some courses within the specialization carry prerequisites.
The track is designed for practicing healthcare professionals who want to move into management and for individuals from other fields seeking a career change into healthcare administration. Graduates can reasonably expect to transition into supervisory, managerial or administrative roles within health care settings, applying both organizational and financial management skills learned in the specialization.
