What you'll study

Entry requirements

Applicants must hold a four‑year bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or an equivalent non‑U.S. university. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) is desired across prior undergraduate and graduate work. International applicants must provide proof of English proficiency unless their prior degree was from a U.S. institution or instruction was in English; financial certification and appropriate visa documentation are also required. A narrative statement outlining academic and professional background and areas of interest is required. Final admission decisions are made jointly by the UMBC Graduate School and the MS‑AI Admissions Committee.

Career prospects

Graduates leave prepared for roles in industry, academia or research. The programme specifically cites preparation for positions such as AI engineer, data scientist or research scientist and emphasizes experience gained through capstone projects, research assistantships and faculty collaborations.
