What you'll study

The programme centers on the completion of a comprehensive, independent research thesis supervised by University of Belize faculty. Course content is therefore driven by the student’s chosen research topic and methods rather than a fixed taught curriculum.

Entry requirements

• A recognized Bachelor’s degree.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale, or upper second-class honours (US/UK/UWI scales).
• Application materials: recent résumé/CV, acceptable recommendations, and a research proposal (max two pages, typed in APA format) describing reasons for applying, preparation for the field, and alignment with career goals.
• Applicants may be required to attend an interview before a final admission decision.
• International applicants must provide proof of English competency (TOEFL score of 87+ or IELTS score of 5+ or equivalent), an official credential evaluation report from a reputable service (e.g., Josef Silny or WES), and full payment of first trimester/semester tuition and fees.

Graduates leave with advanced research skills suitable for roles in academic research, teaching, policy development or applied research positions within public, private or non‑profit sectors. The degree also prepares candidates for further doctoral study.

Scholarships & funding angle
