What you'll study

Coursework develops technical and managerial skills used in project delivery and site operations. Topics and learning emphases drawn from the program include:

• Reading and analysing architectural, engineering and legal documentation to assess deliverables and maintain schedules.
• Construction science, methods, materials and equipment.
• Building information modelling (BIM) to evaluate deliverables and support procurement.
• Estimating, quantity surveying, pricing, bidding and tendering to create project estimates.
• Project planning: scheduling, stakeholder sequencing and resource monitoring.
• Site management, quality assurance and control techniques, safety and labour considerations.
• Business management skills, leadership, communication and negotiation for multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Applied digital literacy and statistical analysis to support the project life cycle and decision‑making for sustainable construction.

Entry requirements

Applicants require an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Mature Student Status. Admission asks for six Grade 12 U or M courses with a combined minimum average of 65%, including Grade 12 U English and Grade 12 U Mathematics each with a final minimum grade of 60%. Calculus, Vectors and Physics are recommended. Post‑secondary courses in English and Mathematics will be considered.

Career prospects

The program prepares graduates for entry‑level construction management roles. Typical job titles noted by the college include assistant project manager, junior project co‑ordinator, junior estimator, junior site co‑ordinator, junior field co‑ordinator, health and safety and quality co‑ordinating/control roles. With further experience or education, graduates may progress to project coordinator, project manager or site superintendent roles.
