What you'll study

The LLM combines taught modules and a substantial research component; students may follow a coursework-and-thesis route or a predominantly research route supervised by faculty. • Research methods and legal theory – advanced jurisprudence, comparative legal systems, quantitative and qualitative legal research techniques and thesis preparation.
• Public and constitutional law – advanced topics in constitutional review, administrative law, public policy and human rights litigation.
• Private and commercial law – company and corporate law, commercial contracts, banking and finance law, insolvency and securities regulation.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold an accredited Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent law degree with a satisfactory academic record. Candidates with other relevant degrees and substantial professional legal experience may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis; such applicants might be required to complete prerequisite modules.

• Official academic transcripts from undergraduate studies.
• A demonstrated ability to undertake postgraduate research (example: grading threshold or equivalent evidence of competence).
• Two academic or professional references and a statement of purpose outlining proposed study or research interests.
• For some applicants, an interview or entrance assessment may be required by the faculty.
• Proficiency in the language of instruction. Where applicable, evidence of Arabic and/or English competence may be requested depending on module choice and supervision language.
