What you'll study

This programme blends core economic theory, quantitative methods and applied business disciplines. Core modules typically cover microeconomic and macroeconomic analysis, econometrics and data analysis, managerial finance, corporate strategy and organisational behaviour. Students also take courses in public policy, international economics, and quantitative decision-making (including forecast modelling and optimisation).

The degree normally offers a choice between a research thesis and a professional practicum/capstone project. Elective options allow specialisation in areas such as development economics, environmental and natural resource economics, financial markets and banking, entrepreneurship and innovation, or applied econometrics and data science. Teaching methods combine lectures, seminars, case studies, software labs (e.g. econometric and statistical packages) and supervised research.

Entry requirements

Applicants are normally expected to hold a recognised bachelor's degree in economics, business administration, engineering, mathematics or another relevant discipline. Applications should include academic transcripts, a current CV, a personal statement outlining study and career objectives, and at least two academic or professional references.

Competence in quantitative methods is required; candidates with insufficient quantitative background may be asked to complete preparatory coursework. Proficiency in Spanish is generally necessary because the majority of instruction and assessment is conducted in Spanish; however some modules or supervision may be available in English. International applicants may be asked to provide evidence of language ability and any required immigration documentation.
