What you'll study

• Financial Awareness for Managers — interpreting financial statements, budgeting basics and cost control for non-finance managers.
• Marketing Fundamentals — market analysis, basic marketing planning and customer-focused approaches.
• Human Resource Principles — recruitment and selection, employment law essentials, performance review and workplace welfare.
• Business Law and Ethics — legal responsibilities of managers, compliance and ethical decision-making.
• IT for Business — using common business software, data handling and digital tools for management tasks.
• Workplace Project / Placement — applied project or short placement to put learning into practice and build vocational experience.

Entry requirements

Admission is based on a combination of academic qualifications and potential for vocational study. Typical entry routes include:

• GCSEs: a pass in English and Maths (or equivalent) plus additional GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, or
• A relevant Level 2 vocational qualification or BTEC, or
• Successful completion of an interview and/or an assessment task demonstrating suitability for management study.
• Mature students with relevant workplace experience are welcome; applicants without formal qualifications will be considered on an individual basis.

Career prospects

Graduates leave with practical skills suited to supervisory and administrative roles across a range of sectors. Typical entry-level roles include:

• Team leader or supervisor in retail, hospitality, logistics or manufacturing
• Administrative or operations coordinator roles in public and private organisations
• Junior HR or recruitment assistant positions
• Customer service management and sales support roles

The diploma also provides a route to further study, such as higher national certificates/diplomas or undergraduate degrees in business and management, and can support progression to professional short courses or qualifications (for example ILM or CIPD units) depending on career direction.
