What you'll study

This diploma blends practical, operational training with underpinning theory to prepare you for frontline hospitality roles. Modules typically include:

• Front Office Operations — reception procedures, reservations, guest communication and use of property management systems.
• Food and Beverage Service — table service, bar skills, menu knowledge, hygiene and allergen awareness.
• Housekeeping and Accommodation Services — cleaning standards, room inspection, linen management and guest-room presentation.
• Events and Banqueting — event planning, set-up, client liaison and back-of-house coordination.
• Customer Service and Communication — service excellence, complaints handling and cultural awareness.
• Health, Safety and Licensing — food safety, workplace health and safety legislation and responsible service of alcohol.
• Business and Revenue Awareness — basic cost control, stock management and an introduction to revenue management principles.
• Work Placement / Industry Project — a supervised placement or practical project in a hospitality setting to consolidate learning.

Teaching methods include practical workshops in on-site training facilities, simulated front-desk and service scenarios, classroom-based theory, group project work and assessed workplace experience.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements are designed to be inclusive while ensuring you have the foundation to succeed. Typical entry criteria include one of the following:

• A relevant Level 2 vocational qualification in hospitality or customer service.
• GCSEs in English and maths at a pass grade (or recognised equivalents); many applicants are accepted with a range of prior qualifications provided they can demonstrate suitability.
• Relevant work experience in the hospitality sector may be considered in place of formal qualifications.
• Mature applicants are invited to an interview and may be offered a place subject to an assessment of skills and career aims.

All applicants are expected to demonstrate good communication skills and a willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required in hospitality roles.
