What you'll study

The program requires a minimum of 60 credit hours (a minimum of 48 credit hours must be completed through NU) and is structured around core courses, specialization courses, research courses, a pre-candidacy prospectus, and dissertation coursework. Up to 12 semester credit hours may be accepted in transfer if earned at an accredited institution with grades of B or better.

• Core and introductory work: A doctoral-level leadership course introduces technology alignment with organizational strategy and prepares students to practice visionary technology leadership; students also complete a required writing assessment in the first course, TIM-7001.
• Specialization topics (examples from course listings): network concepts and high-level network design (including multi-cloud, satellite, 5G/6G, quantum communications and related security techniques); advanced database management systems and data warehousing, including data transformation for business intelligence; risk, policy and ethics for tangible and intangible domains with models, standards and mitigation strategies; advanced statistics tailored to information systems and technology research for planning and interpreting quantitative studies; and IT governance, policy and managerial strategies for implementing emerging technologies.
• Research and dissertation: Students choose a pair of research methods and directed research courses aligned with their research proposal, complete a pre-candidacy prospectus, and then undertake dissertation manuscript preparation, oral defense, and submission of the approved final manuscript (both original unbound and electronic copies).

Entry requirements
